Green carpet, a photo from Devon, England

Photographer's Note

A walk in the woods on Dartmoor, close to Burrator reservoir.
The ground underneath our feet was like walking on a thick carpet, so soft and springy.
The amount of moss to be seen growing here shows just how clean the air is here.
A very bright and sunny day.

An extra shot in the w/s.

Hello Jean,
The ground may feel like a soft, thick carpet, but it looks like a carpet where you could easily stumble if you don't watch your step. On the other hand these green humps make the view quite interesting and contribute to an attractive play of light and shadows. It looks like a beautiful area, at least on such a sunny day, and the possible slight overexposure of the sky in the WS is not at all disturbing. The mossy green trees and the brown ground provided a very nice photo.

The green carpet looks wonderful, especially with all those small bumps everywhere, which add a very nice play of shadows as well in cooperation with the bright sidelight. Very well captured.

Wonderful forest pictures!
The bumps in the ground and the long shadows make for a photo with a lot of variation in the bottom half.
Soft to walk on but be careful not to step into a hidden pit.

Hello Jean,

What an attractive photograph of this mossy, softly cushioned woodland!
Who would ever have guessed that this was taken in November, a time for oranges, reds, browns and yellows, and here we are seeing lime greens, proudly covering the entire space!
The sponginess of the ground seems almost palpable as we see the cushion shapes, denoted by the strong contrasts of light and shadows!
It's a lovely photograph.

A great place to explore in daylight, but the undulating carpet of spongy moss could be tricky to navigate at night. Good colour, sharpness and framing with pleasant emerald green tones. Tfs!

Hi Jean,

A lovely green scene with the low sunlight picking out details of the green carpet that is the forest floor. Excellent sharpness. The sky is a little overexposed: to avoid this you could try to underexpose the photo and then use software to brighten up the dark parts only.

Hi Jean,
I have a lot of moss attacking lawn in my garden but I didn't think of it as a sign of the air being clean. I will not have views like that though because I don't have trees like that :)
