Photographer's Note

one shot i took last year in Harrods in London just before Xmas.... i thought it would be fun and sweet to post one of those big teddy bears as we enter into december as a reminder of the Xmas spirit.

I promised I would try to write a longer note, so with the help of viviane (porteplume) whom i heartily thank here, here is my extensive note :

Theodore Roosevelt was a great hunter and often went out hunting. One day, his hunting friends captured a bear and offered him the shot. He refused to do it. Some journalists who were present at this hunt thought this story would please the public. So they talked a lot about him saving the bear through their journals, articles, editorials, and satirical drawings. This is how this bear got associated to the name of Roosevelt.

Morris Michton, a shop owner, had the brilliant idea to display a bear handmade by his wife in his shop window. He asked the president the authorization to call it Teddy bear. It was granted and here is my tribute to both Roosevelt and the Xmas Spirit!
