Photographer's Note

This shot was taken at the same time as yesterday's post. I wanted to include the grasses and ice in the foreground so I got down as low as I could. At first I was annoyed these people were in shot and than I realized they actually added something to the composition, although they are in silhouette as I was shooting into the sun. I was trying an idea I copied from Dave Morea (DLM) and used both the grads (x4 & x8) together to darken the sky more. Unfortunately it resulted in the sky being pink so I adjusted the colour balance as much as I could to give a more realistic appearance, although there is still a pinkish cast. The shot also started life in landscape format, but this time I got quite a lot of lens flare, so I cropped the photo. I also had to reduce the DoF from the earlier shot as the extra filter had slowed the speed considerably.

Edit: The colour seems to be giving cause for comment so I have posted the original pink version in WS (after cropping)to show what it was like before I used colour balance.
