Photographer's Note

While driving to a remote village pub the light on these fields caught my eye. There is no central subject of course, just glorious fields. Fountains Abbey lies about four miles distant.

Oh, what a light here, and what a deep view. And this deepness is punctuated by light and dark areas, so an eye is zigzaging from tree to tree, from yellow to green... Very good landscape, you were so lucky to catch this light!

Great photo and excellent yellows and greens. Maybe a polarizing filter or a little Photoshop magic to enhance the blue sky and clouds. Maybe this is what Sting was singing about in his song "Fields of Gold".

It seems you were in the UK at the height of the rape crop, the stunning yellow of which is very photogenic. To capture it in the wonderful evening light is a bonus. I don't know Galphay at all. It was certainly worth stopping the car for this view; the depth goes on and on.

When you use next time a polarisation filter for the blue sky with the clouds then it would be superb...!!!

A beautiful landscape John, and you really have captured it in magical light.
I like the balance in the composition, and the sense of depth given to the scene by the foreground tree, although I would maybe have placed it slightly further towards the edge of the frame. This would also have enabled you to have a bit of a gap between the left edge of the frame and the other tree further into the middle foreground.

I like the differents levels in this landscape guiding the eye from the tree in foreground to the horizon in a yrllow and green symphony,on the technical aspect i just regret the poor quality of details due(i suppose) to a(to strong)noise reduction in PP,

Hi John. You're right this shot doesn't necessarily have a strong focal point but that's not always a requirement with this much natural goodness. You have quite the combination of light and color.

John, you have my apologies right off the bat for missing so many of your shots. And I see several that shouldn't be missed. This one really caught my eye. I have a thing for green fields and these are perfect. The lights perfect to set of the patches of gold. Like the tree. Very eyecatching.

The first thought in my mind when I saw this shot was – “What colours!” I guess you would have thought the same too, as also all the viewers. The depth is fantastic & the yellow seems to go on & on into the horizon. Bathed in soft sunlight the image takes a painting-esque feeling, sort of a Van Gogh masterpiece (though these are not wheat fields)

The light is truly fabulous, and the alternateing dark and light parts with the tree in the foreground make an attractive compostion.
I think like many others I fell in love with the Yorkshire countryside through James Herriot Books and often imagined what it must look like.
