Land of the Buck, a photo from London, England

Photographer's Note

This was taken for a wildlife competition on dpchallenge. I went out very early yet again into Richmond Park. Was looking for a silhouette of these guys, and was lucky enough to find them in a perfect spot on the top of a hill. I kind of herded them into a position with no trees in the background in order to get a clean silhouette.

I am really struck by the power of this image. The foremost buch looks quite magestic. The fact that there are 3 and thus a trinity of repeating shapes really, for me, helps renforce the power of that one magestic buck. The silhouette also, I think, keeps the buck firmly in the realm of idea.

That magesty of the buck on the right is really helped by the beautiful background. I get the sense of them surveying the land before the day begins. Lastly, I love that the ground is on a slight slope. I think that if the line were perfectly horizontal, it would have killed the dynamic feel of the image.

This was an awesome image to start my day and inspire my own photography. TFS.

I love the position variations of each 3 deer. The trouble you went to with the herding etc was well worth it!

I just arrived on your gallery browsing through the new posts and discovered your 2 last pictures with deers...
What can I say... appart from waoooohhh...
I had long mornings waiting for them to pass behind me and had some success, but here you give us 2 marvelous shots that are really perfect.

I like a lot this your silhouette! The background colour is nice and makes me wander what lies beyond the bucks.
What I like best is the fact that they are three and in a crescendo order, qhich made me think of a multiple shot, a kind of kinetic shot. It is highly dynamic.

The silhouette of the deers it is perfect, the movement looks superb and POV seems optimal.
