Photographer's Note
On the right and left side you can see desolated shops that used to be a buzzing, noisy palestinian market years ago. Now it is a ghost town. on top there are Jewish settler homes and the net you see is to protect the palestinians walking along the street from big rocks, junk and big items settlers enjoy throwing down on people walking by especially if they are palestinians. On the closed shop doors you read "death to the arabs" and also parols against the settlers. It is a spooky place.. especially i you notice all these israeli snipers on the roofs that have the reputation to be quite trigger happy. May god bring peace soon! And especially to this sad place

I think this is such a sad place to be - the world seems ignorant of such things and such conditions really - I walked down here last summer and we met people still living in this zone as well as visiting the Jewish settlements - I just found the whole place unbelievably awful.....and such a contrast to the busy life of the streets where the Arabs have been displaced to. It's good that you share this image.
best wishes Kev

So these are the nets you commented on, good documentary style photo, showing the empty streets. A terrible thing has happened in this area, let's hope one day it's otherwise...
