Daha önceki bazı fotoğraflarda da belittiğim gibi Arafat'ta olmak Hac ibadetinin esasıdır. Peygamberimiz "Hac Arafattır" diye buyurmuştur. Kurban Bayramı'nın bir gün öncesi yani Arefe günü Arafat'ta bulunulması gerekiyor. Arefe terimi Arafat'ın diğer adıdır, ve bayramlardan bir gün öncesi için de kullanılmaktadır.

Bu fotoğraf geçen yıl Arefe gününün önceki günü çekildi. Burası Arafat ovasının en yüksek tepesi olan Rahmet Dağı'dır. Hz.Adem ile Hz. Havva validemiz, Cennet'ten sonraki uzun ayrılığın sonunda bu tepede buluşmuş, affı için bu tepenin üzerinde Allah'a yalvararak duaları kabul edilmişti.

Yaklaşık 3 milyon civarında müminin Arafat'a getirilip götürülmesi bir gün içinde güç olduğundan Arafat'a genellikle bir gün önce gidilmekte ve o gece orada kurulu çadırlarda gecelenmektedir.

Question: What is the meaning and significance of the Day of Arafat?

Answer: The 9th day of Dhul-Hijjah (the Month of Hajj) is called the Day of Arafat. This day is the culminating event of the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

The Day of Arafat falls on the 2nd day of pilgrimage rituals. At dawn of this day, nearly 2 million Muslim pilgrims will make their way from Mecca to a nearby hillside and plain called Mount Arafat and the Plain of Arafat. It was from this site that the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, gave his famous Farewell Sermon in his final year of life.

During the entire day, from dawn until sunset, Muslim pilgrims stand in earnest supplication and devotion, praying for God's abundant forgiveness. Tears are shed readily as those who gather make repentance and seek God's mercy, recite words of prayer and remembrance, and gather together as equals before their Lord. Muslims around the world who are not participating in the pilgrimage often spend this day in fasting and devotion.

an amazing shot! love your exposure approach letting the moving people go into ghostly blur; love the color/light cast too. i guess, i would have cropped a bit off the top to put even more accent on the mountain and the pilgrims.

arafat dağını hiç böyle güzel görmemiştim.gecenin sıcak atmosferi içinde özellikle hacıların dağda duruşları harika görünüyor.ayrıca ışık,sıcak renk tonları ve netlikte nefis elinize sağlık.

belle photo de cette colline ou ces gens se réunissent pour prier.
Très belle prise de nuit ou la difficulé est grande car si vu le manque de clarté, le temps de pose augmente, si vous l'avez posé, vous obtenez une bonne netteté et de bon détails mais alors les gens qui bougent deviennent un peu des fantomes, ce qui est normal et il faut faire un choix, ou la netteté de l' ensemble ou les gens très nets et le flou des alentours.
Je trouve que vous avez bien choisi.

Rosa et toto vous souhaites de bonnes fêtes de fin d' années et une excellente année 2009, qu' elle vous apporte bonheur et prospérité.

Great shot of such an important moment! The photos of these cities have always fascinated me. They are not visited by common tourists, and that gives them a special atmosphere.I like this pov, you're giving a very good idea of the place and moment. And it's not very easy to get a long exposure with so many people.

Wow! This is one of a kind shot! The colours, light and the blurred figures of the people give an eerie as well as enchanting feeling. The long poles and the lonely building at the top of the mountain look good too. Thanks for sharing.
