Photographer's Note

This is the exterior of the old Byzantine Church in Trabzon built between 1238 and 1263 AD. In Greek, it is Hagia Sophia and in Turkish Aya Sofya. I have previously uploaded a shot of the fresco on the alcove roof at left. Today the abandoned church is now a museum. The even older ancient Greek Temple of Hermes (Mercury) is just a few metres left of the church. I've loaded a shot of it as a workshop. In the bg is the Black Sea.
