Photographer's Note
Sapanca Lake is a freshwater lake, east of Izmit Bay in the Marmara region in Turkey. It is fed by the fresh water coming from the high mountain range, Samanli daglari, with its famous snowy peak Kartepe (1699m). You can find several pensions and fish restaurants around the lake. This restaurant, called Gölevi , lies in the Kirkpinar village. Under the full moon, I tried a salt water fish called “mezgit” (whiting, merlangius merlangus ) from the menu. It is a common fish in the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea and tastes delicious.
