Antalya, as well as being a popular holiday destination on the Turkish Med, is also a large modern city with a diverse range of industries, and quite a cospolitan permanent population.

The interesting (but very touristic) old town around the harbour, as well as having numerous cafes and restuarants catering for tourists, also has lively local scene. I can't quite understand how the two manage to remain separate, but easily the best place we found for an evening our was this local proposition called Ayyas, the drinker, complete with impressive (worth buying) live music, a superb mezze buffet, and excellent. The place was full, and we seemed to be the only tourists, always a good sign that you've found the right place.
