Photographer's Note
Everyone has heard of King Midas. The tomb / tumulus of his father Gordius is across the road from this archeological site known as Megaron 1 & Megaron 2. They date from 750 BC & the mosaics might date from the 8th century BC, making them the oldest known in Anatolia, together with Til Barsip in Syria, and Arslantas, also in Turkey, but not strictly in Anatolia. The latter 2 date from the 9th century BC. I might load a couple of workshops later. Oh, & it's very rare to see an archeologist on site as depicted here. Looks like painstaking work assembling the jigsaw puzzle of fragments.

Hello Chris,
You were lucky to find this archaeologist at work. He makes the photo incredibly more vivid and interesting than a conventional view of just the mosaics. I'm not certain exactly what he was doing, but that's quite irrelevant for the photo.
Best regards,
Gert

Bonjour Chris,
Tu as bien capturé le travail de l'artiste. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des mosaïques et des outils. La lumière met en valeur les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hello Chris,
Did you go back afterwards to see if this archaeologist had turned to gold? Who knows what he found ...
Good to see a detailed picture in the WS.
Also very interesting to show us some life on an archaeological site.
I confess that Yassıhüyük is completely unknown to me.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Chris
Last week I watched a man working on restoring "Blue Pole" at the national gallery in Canberra - similar concentration although in Canberra he had all sorts of scientific gear to see the detail.
cheers

Hi Chris
Great street photo! Well caught and produced and especially like the strong lines of the mosaics grouting surrounding his work. Lovely some eye popping colours clicking the eyes too. Well done
