Photographer's Note
The ruins of the old Roman baths in the ancient city of Sagalassos. The Baths were destroyed in an earthquake in the 7th century. They used to be adorned with many giant marble statues of various Roman Emperors and their consorts. Sadly, many were destroyed to extract lime, but excavations have uncovered some intriguing fragments such as legs feet and arms. More info here:

Hello Chris,
I passed through Burdur province and town in 1971, soon after another earthquake had caused some destruction, but I was never close to these baths. Anyone wanting to see the huge cultural heritage of Turkey carefully would need several months, which you had but very few others. There seem to be some interesting details among these ruins, and they are well photographed, but the distant hills look just as interesting.
Best regards,
Gert

Bonjour Chris,
Le site est impressionnant. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des ruines des bains romains. La lumière donne de belles teintes aux couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hello Chris,
A great overview of the Roman ruins here in the mountains. I like their warm colours, which make a nice contrast with the bluish mountains in the distance.

Hi Chris,
Interesting view of these ruins with so many details. It is so strange to think that it has been ruins for so many centuries, and intact for many centuries before the earthquake. Beautiful mountain landscape in the background.

Hello Chris,
From a well elevated viewpoint you present us the very interesting ruins of the ancient Sagalassos.
I was never in Sagalassos but this site has a certain notoriety in Belgium because of the Archaeological Research Project of the largest university in the country (KU Leuven).
Very nicely presented with the mountainous surroundings.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Chris, I have seen some Roman baths better preserved although I do not remember where, hahaha. Here because of the earthquake, we can see only outlines. beautiful setting on the hill with the view of the valley.

Hi Chris
Not a spot that I'be heard of but it looks intriguing with lots of hints as to what was once, including where underground pipes may have been. Good one.
cheers

Hi Chris,
again not much is left from the past, but it is amazing that even ruins are so photogenic sometimes and it makes s think how great it must have been before.
Great very colorful capture here with the mountains decorating the horizon.
Excellent reportage,

the roman citizens took their way of life across each corner of the areas dominated by them.
ruins themselves aren't so impressive as the wide landscape around.
nice photo

Hello Chris,
What can I say? Not one of the best preserved example of the Roman ruins in Turkey. But it is nice to see, TFS.
