The small picturesque town of Kas (app. 8,000 inhabitants) with its romantic harbour beingsurrounded by green hills and the steep rocky walls of the Taurus mountains is located on the historically important Lycian coast that stretches out from Fethiye to Antalya and belongs to the most beautiful region of the southern coast of Turkey. Even though there is a very good tourist infrastructure estabished, Kas hasn’t lost its unique flair and continues to enchant its visitors with its typically Mediterranean atmosphere and lovely landscape...
The Kas of today has it’s roots in the hellenistic period and was originally named Antiphellos. Under Roman rule it was the leading city of this region. The Lycians belonged to the most ancient nations of Anatolia and many signs are left in Kas telling us stories about their magnificent past. The most important sights are a well preserved sarcophagus of approximately 3 m height in the town centre, relics of a former city wall, skilfully decorated rock graves and a very well preserved amphitheatre that allows for a beautiful view of the shimmering sea, the peninsula of Kas and the greek island of Kastellorizo (Meis)...
“Holiday in Kas” stands for a magnificent combination of unspoiled nature, history and fun. Even though the former fishermen’s village is living almost exclusively from the tourism industry, Kas has managed to escape from mass tourism and has preserved its fresh original atmosphere. Here, it is still possible to stroll along sleepy roads or take a rest in one of the comfortable cafes under shady palm trees and enjoy turkish hospitality. There are a large number of small bars and restaurants offering local as well as international cuisine, attractive prices and tempting the visitor’s palate with a large tasty choice of culinary specialties. In the evening, there are a many music bars and discotheques that guarantee a varied and colorful nightlife.
It is a very special experience to visit the bazaar - a kind of weekly market taking place every Friday in Kas. Here, you will find everything your heart may desire: Fruit, vegetables, spices, clothes, leather articles or souvenirs. You will easily dive into the colorful hustle and bustle and may get seduced by the large variety of offers and exotic scents...

Merhaba Salim,
Arşivinden güzel bir fotoğraf koymuşsun. Hava bulutlu olmayıp kızıl güneş ışıkları olsaymış daha da hoş olurmuş herhalde... Kadraj ve kompozisyon harika...
Selamlar...

Such an atmospheric pic - some might even so eery. The stormy sky is so amazing. Very artistic, as are all your shots. Nice work.

salim,
here the sky is dominating but it is not distracting, rather very dramatic and somber yet meaningful. great composition.

I like this kind of atmosphere... Seeing the rain arriving can be a great show... I just regret the compo is a little too dark. Whatever, a good mood.
