Photographer's Note
... aka "Why it is there..." Light info on this link.
"In 1868 it was decided to erect a light to mark the eastern entrance to St. Margaret's Bay. While best known as "the Peggys Cove Lighthouse", it was and remains officially known as the Peggys Point Lighthouse. Its purpose is to mark the point, not the cove. The cove has its own small light on the government wharf.
The first lighthouse was a wooden tower, built atop a keeper's dwelling at the point. It was a red light and used a catoptric reflector (a round silver-plated mirror) to magnify the kerosene oil lamp. ""
I'm grateful for the small squall that drove off
the tourists and allowed me to get an unpolluted shot.
The light breaking thru lasted but a few moments.
The weather is a big variant here, providing for different moods.
PS Did a PP with newer software that allows very fine rotation adjustment... so the horizon is now flat...
Btw. I live close to the also still functioning 1758 Sambro Light!
Shot dedicated to Jj who first brought me to Peggys Cove.

"Sentinel of the Atlantic".....a glorious shot of this lighthouse!!
I like the composition; the light streaming through the clouds and reflecting off both the water and the granite slabs!
You've added a plus with capturing the green
flash of the Peggy's Cove lens!
Very nice.

this is very interesting and very attractive for all that it is a bit soft in the focus (or is it just too shallow a dof?)
Love the colours

Hello Jay,
This is a beautiful scenery with excellent colors and exposure. It is too bad that the image seems soft to me though... What aperture did you used? Colors are so nice, thanks!

Jay,
I like the way the lighthouse stands out against the sky like an English palace guard protecting the fishermen, etc. It has the feel of a painting. Not often we see this without people.
What did you do to chase them off?
Cheers :) Roy

Hi Jay,
Nice moody photo. Lacks a little of sharpness but you're reward on the colours that are magnific. I love the sun reflecting on the ocean and the heavy clouds.
Friendly,
Aida

Dit lijken mooie natte gladde stenen te zijn. Een keuze maken is altijd moeilijk. Maar een vuurtoren helpt he. Zelfs in de grijze mist! Dank je wel, Ell

Hello Jay,
This is a typical setting for a lighthouse, at least in our Northern part of the world!
It is almost twenty years since lights were turned off in the last Norwegian lighthouse and today they only serve tourist purposes...
Nice composition, my friend!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hello Jay,
Excellent composition of a very attractive scene. The moody clouds complement the colour of the granite. Thanks for sharing,
Jules

Aah one of my favourite places, NS, it's been too long (15 years) since I last went there, great subject, difficult light, some more sharpness would be welcome.
