So Close and yet...., a photo from Ontario, Central

Photographer's Note

Well my friends, the day is almost here! For those of you who know me I've been waiting for my Husband to return home for along time and tomorrow sometime I should get my wish. Of course this morning I was somewhat stressed as we have another Gale blowing on our Lake (Erie) which is where the ship my Husband is Captain of is right now. At the time I took these photos we had a 20knot south/west wind blowing, the waves on the lake were 5-7 feet, now the wind has changed direction and is blowing 30-35 knots and the waves are closer to 10 feet. But he says all is well , course the ship is big 730' long and 75' wide but as I sit here in the house I can hear the wind blowing at our house and know hes out there in the rough weather.

In my photo you can see the stacks of our Hydro electric power plant which is where I'm going to pick up my husband tomorrow sometime. Hes going to bring them 30,000 tons of coal! (not coats! thanks Peter!)

So I probably won't around much, but I'm sure I'll pop in to check out your photos from time to time. I've got him home for 30 days! Yahoo!!

Very dramatic view of what such high winds can do along the shores of one of North America's Great Lakes. Very nice colors and details to this late autumn landscape.

Hi Donna,
The waves provoked by the strong wind on the lake are impressive, it looks like the sea. I like the way of fitting the photo, with the plants defined well in foreground, curled by the force of the wind, and the landscape of the lake, the foam of the waves, and the shore with its vegetation and both chimneys.
Congratulations for the return of your husband, is a great day for you, undoubtedly.

Hello Donna,
Seems like the autumn storms are kicking in!
The vegetation gets motion blur from the wind, and the waves are washing the shores of Lake Erie...
Good capture of the action, in an image telling that summer is over for now!

Donna,
lucky you for the 30 days but I'm sure that your husband is bringing coal and not coats to the powerplant. It would be a waste to burn 30 tons of coats! ;-)
I like the contrast of rough nature in the foreground and the blurred background, mainly chimnees.

about this photo what I like the most is the effect of the wind.and this big lake, the way water hits the ground makes us believe as if it is the sea. wonderful nature photo. Isee chimneys at the back but that dont harm the scene
