Photographer's Note

My Husband and I took a walk along the Lake shore one day before the snow and ice came to the shore. When I saw these cement steps I had to smile and decided to take a shot of our "ruins". Now they are just a set of cement steps but you will notice that they lead no where, the reason? Many times in the fall we get huge storms on the Great Lakes, when the forces of nature argue. The lake waters warm from the summer sun fight with the cold air coming in during the fall and winter months until the Lakes eventually freeze over. The winds will blow and the waves build and this is what happens to the shore. Cement steps and breakwalls move amazing distances carried down the shore with the force of the water.

Right now though the steps sit as a reminder, respect the water and the winds for if you don't you might take a step into nowhere....

Hello Donna,
And I'm pretty sure they once upon a time found their good use..!
Good details and textures in the cement, the angle of light helps creating a feeling of depth...
An interesting capture that makes one's mind wander!

I did not imagine so severe angers of the Great Lakes. But your image testifies to these furies. It is an original subject which teaches us something. Good realization.
