Photographer's Note

This artwork is a temporary installation in Toronto's Budapest Park, for the 60th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, celebrated this year on October 23. It was designed by the Hello Wood design studio based in Budapest, Hungary, and built with local help during the first week of October. It is was removed on the end of October. It is called the The tunnel Through Time, a symbolic representation of the the journey of Hungarian refugees to Canada after the revolution. It is made from 37565 pieces of wood; each one representing a Hungarian refugee that was accepted into Canada. The entrance is a symbol of the Hungarian flag with a hole in the middle, as it was during the revolution when the communist symbol was cut out from the flags. The exit, the red maple leaf is the symbol of Canada. I put another view of this installation into the Workshop There is a permanent bronze monument of the Revolution in the park, it was erected on the 10th anniversary.
