Photographer's Note
Lakeside shot from Moraine Lake, in Banff National Park. Most people who visit this place climb on top of the rock pile and photograph from about 30 meters above the lake. It's a great shot from up there, but everyone does that. To get a different view I scrabled down the rocky slop to the edge of the water. This angle has more depth because of the foreground. I intentionally went for a high contrast look, because it feels more dramatic than other shots I took that have more detail in the shadows.

Hi Alvin. So many things going on in this picture, so many elements demanding attention. Each of them equally interesting and combining into a very interesting composition. Very nicely composed, and indeed creating a dramatic effect, as you suggest.

Hello Alvin,
Unusual, original and very beautiful. I like very much the high contrasts in light and shadows, and in the brilliant contrasting colors. Warm regards,

Hi Alvin,
From the vertical framing and the logs lead in this image has a superb depth, don't mind stronger contrasts as they render well the logs textures. Background light on the trees is pleasant and the lakeside curve gives image dynamics.
Have a nice day JY

Hi Alvin
Superb colour, sharpness & reflections, with good repetition of the logs. A marvellous pov with nice colour contrasts, between the blue & yellow. Tfs!

Alvin, the colors and the light are amazing!Of course, it's a usual subject for you, but it seems to me like you approached it in a different way. The tree trunks in the foreground make up a nice intro to the mountain-they add a fantastic depth. I like the lines created by the trees in the deep shadows and the ones in the light. The Rockies on the left are essential in the comp, they balance it out!
nice one...again!

Hi Alvin
There are strong compositional lines in this shot and you are right it does provide a more unique look at Morraine Lake. The light is quite dramatic and there is lots of FG interest.

I'm not totally convinced you had to let it so dark, but it works well because of the good graphic impact

HI Alvin,
A not so often shared perspective of Morraine Lake, but I like it. The logs in the foreground definitely add to the perception of depth. Good light and stunning colors. Well seen and TFs. Gerald

I like the high contrast, Alvin, and the logs that provide an element that's jarringly straight--they sort of stiffen the picture, whatever that means. They fit well with the high contrast look. Great clouds and a nice dusting of snow on the mountaintops. Regards, Ken.

"Scrabled down the rocky slop to the edge of the water". That's what I always do. To be honest, I think that I don't even know how to photograph a lake or the sea from an higher pov... I like your composition very much. The curvilinear path is great and the light is perfect. Nothing more to say here...

Hi Alvin,
The reflections in the water are assets to the composition. The point of view takes our eyes toward the mountains in the background. The subject is well frame. The intensity of the light bis enhancing the colors of the scenery. have a nice day.

Love the composition here. And the juxtaposition of the green, sunlit forest (spring/summer) contrasting against the snow powdered mountains. The logs pointing to this and the bits of blue sky make it perfect.
