Reflections, a photo from British Columbia, Western

Photographer's Note

Sometimes one need look no further than one's own backyard, so to speak, for places to take great images. This shot is taken over the Fraser River near where I live, with partially obscured Mount Cheam as a backdrop. The water levels in the river are at their lowest this time of year, so access to this spot is possible. The late afternoon sun cast heavy shadows along the trees, but the reflections were stunning in the calm water. This was only my second time out with my new D300s, but it's already proving to be a camera more than worthy of a place alongside the trusty D80 in my camera bag. It looks a lot more luminous on your photos than on the foggy images we see on TV these days... Great nature landscape from a pov allowing good reflection and attractive alternance of highlights and shady areas

Beautiful reflection on the river. I like the strip of peebles under the sun, on the left of the picture.
It nicely breaks the green=blue tones of the rest of the image.

Hi Gerald,

gorgeous scenery and great shot. The exposure control is successful. A good balance between the sky and the reflected area. The tangential and warm light coming from the right is also a good feature. Very fine photography!

Great shot, it looks awesome for me and I wonder what the settings were… Was it shot as in-camera jpeg or was it processed in Photoshop?
I cannot tell exactly because the only hint I have is the sky, of which blue is a bit flat to be natural but I cannot be sure, I might be wrong…
I read your updated info and you`re right: you improved a lot in the last years here:)

Another great shot Gerald;

I like the composition here, and how the mountain managed to be well reflected but only part of the sky as the reflection is replaced with the pebbled shore of the mighty Fraser which leads the eye nicely into the shot.

Rich yet natural colors. I think the polariser really helped here didn't it?

Not only he landschape is beutiful but also the way you compose this image with the little stones framing the left side and leading the eye into the bg.
