Photographer's Note

Lake McArthur, in Yoho National Park,an image I will probably never see again in the same incredible light conditions.
One can try to get up there and get this weather but it`s highly improbable because there are so many variables in the game.
The access to the area is only permitted by foot or by the Park bus (with reservation well over in advance) up to Lake O`Hara and only by foot up to Lake McArthur.
A place one cannot forget...

Hi Nelu! First photo I've looked at all day, what a way to start! Great title, have you heard the song "Once In A Lifetime" by Enya and Bono - very haunting. Like this photo, which seems to be an unforgettable experience for you. The blue of the lake is out of this world, no doubt due to it being glacial? The sharpness superb and I like the reflections on the lake. You were lucky with the weather, but no luck involved with this shot, it's done by a pro. Have a great day, Lisa

It is allways a pleasure to see the lakes of the Rocky Mountains . The colors of the water is incredible . I think that the snow covering the peaks (first autumn snow ?) enhances the beauty of the place . You re a lucky guy , to be able to admire such a view .

Hello Nelu,
This is a superb shot, the light is indeed excellent, as are the coulours. The blue of the sky in the Rockies can be extaordinary, and you captured it very well; it is yet accentuated by the white of the fresh snow and the pretty clouds. And the water, well, out of this world!
Great composition and framing, as well.
Thanks for sharing this beauty and if it is of any consolation to you, we have been having a hell of a winter here in Prague, with dumps of snow not seen in over 30 years, with nearly no space left for walking, parking, and driving, and it doesn't seem to be going away any time soon! At least you have the occasional Chinook to look forward to!

Hi Nelu,
It sure is a magical place, the colour of the water is what really stands out for me, it has such an incredible depth of blue to it. Obviously it is a given that the surrounding mountains are magnificent.
I'm curious as to why you chose f/22. From my experience using any lens at the extreme of its range is asking a lot from a quality point of view. I'll be interested to hear your reasoning.
No way you could feel blue having this wonderful panorama staring at you from your monitor.

I'm always impressed by the wonderful blue color on the Canadian lakes, and I must admit I'm a bit envious. I wonder why we don't have such a great blue color...
And it looks so pretty with those white summits above. However, must have been a marvelous experience. Thanks for sharing it with us. By the way, I guess you're a proud Canadian as the Winter Olympics are being held there now, congratulations with the gold medal in moguls!
