Photographer's Note

Who has turned on the lights of Lions Gate Bridge during the daytime? Actually, the bright "star" in the upper-left corner of this picture is not our Sun, but our Moon, or "Supermoon".

A supermoon, is the coincidence of a full moon with the closest approach the Moon makes to the Earth on its elliptical orbit, or perigee. That is, our satellite is 20% brighter and 12% bigger than average.

Thankfully, tonight there were no clouds, and I was able to capture this amazing view of the supermoon from the Seawalk in West Vancouver.

I like the colors of Lions Gate Bridge and Downtown Vancouver, but most of all, I like the effects caused by the diffraction of the moonlight from the haze. It really seems that the Sun hasn't set tonight.
