The snow sculptures are always a big part of the Winter Carnival. There are many different competitions; local, Canadian and world wide. Here you have a view of the local competition.

For the past two weeks, the weather has been very warm and sunny for the season (between +2 and +4 Celsius in the day) for the past two weeks. It's great for us but not for the sculptures. A lot of them have melted down.

Amazing sculptures. Normally ice looks cold, but here it alsmost looks warm;) I like the blue sky as well, great colours! But what are the green lights to the left?

Bonjour Paul,
C'est superbe et ca rend super bien, c'est dommage que ces creations soient ephemeres. En France se deroule un evenement similaire dans la station de ski de Valloire en janvier, mais la les sculptures sont en glace.

Bonjour Paul,
Content de voir une nouvelle photo de toi et je ne suis pas decu du resulta.
Elle est superbe. J'aime cette composition ou les sculptures ne forment qu'une seule ligne en diagonale, cela donne une perspective a la photo.
La lumiere elle aussi est superbe,
Pour les temperatures douces, j'aurais bien aime avoir +2 degre durant mon passage il y a 10j!

A nice add to your winter carnival series, Paul. Good diagonal presentation of the beautiful ice sculptures, with an effective exposure to render the unique ambience created by the artificial lighting. The colors are just lovely.

Le froid donne des idées artistiques au Canadiens, ils ont raison d'en profiter.
Le crépuscule est un moment bien choisi pour faire de bonnes compositions avec la sculpture qui est bien positionnée en avant-plan.

Bonsoir Paul, la lumière est vraiment fantastique, tant par le ciel que celle projeté sur les sculptures, la composition est fantastique. Probablement que l'utilisation d'un trépied aurait donné une netteté parfaite, mais enfin c'est comme, je ne l'ai pas toujours sous la main, très agréable, bravo.

Un peu plus élaboré que les bonshommes de neige que je réalisais avec mes enfants. J'aime bien le côté abstrait de ces formes.
La photo donne envie de scuplter (je l'ai fait dans le sable) des formes aériennes défiant la gravité comme celle en avant plan.
Les pièces sont fort bien éclairées et le dégradé de bleus dans le ciel est très beau.

Nice presentation of our winter carnaval. Because of the last warm days, I think that must of those scultures colapsed. The background is a bit busy. I would appreciate a shorter DOF. Buena composicion amigo

Great capture of tender light here, Paul! :-) The colours are breathtakingly beautiful and the position of the snow sculptures in diagonal adds more impact to the scene. FG and BG fit perfectly. Excellent job!

Amazing sculptures but the overall image has a blue / magenta color cast (but that's easily fixed in a workshop.) Good use of a strong diagonal in the composition. Great work!
