Nature's Cathedrals, a photo from British Columbia, Western

Photographer's Note

This is Cathedral Mountain, in Yoho National Park. It's a prominant mountain visible from the TransCanada Highway near the BC/Alberta border. The photo was taken at sunset, changing the mountain's normal grey color to golden yellow/orange. Originally photographed on Provia and then scanned. I've posted a crop of the original scan, so the detail isn't as nice as I would like, but the compostion is better.

Nice Alvin and such a clear image too. I like the golden colours on the mountain and the contrast of the dark forested foreground.

Brilliant colors Alvin. The bright mountain offset by the dark forest in the foreground and the blue sky is really quite attractive. I'm not sure if it's the contrast or that you've over sharpened, but it has a slightly over cooked appearance. But over all still a real Wow to see.

You've got some great mountain photos here (sorry i've missed them up to now). This one stands out though for the bands of gold and red and the silhouette of the pines. Excellent stuff!

Hi Alvin,
While excavating in your first photographs, I fell on this cathedral, it bears his name well.
The fir trees in against-low could symbolize the organ of this superb building.
