Autumn in Vancouver, a photo from British Columbia, Western

Photographer's Note

Taken near the entrance to Stanley Park. Like a lot of other people I was out recently looking for some photos of the trees as they change colour. Most of the trees around Vancouver are coniferous (with needles) and they don't change colour, but in some of the city parks there are good examples of Canada's famous maple trees.

Wow, great shot Alvin;

The colors are superb. If you were to look up "Fall" in the Encyclopedia, you should see this photo.
A great way to spend the afternoon, walking your dog around the seawall.

Nice shot! That tree off the right is so majestic. Way to go! Too bad you couldn't have caught it without any people. However, it gives it a real feeling.
I have seen so many beautiful pictures from Canada. It is must be lovely there in the fall.

A beautiful autumnal photo, Alvin. Good use of the tree - shining in its best seasonal foliage - to have a compositional anchor and a framing device for this view. Good to have the relaxed people included in this oasis of quiet in the city, and nice disposition of light as it breaks through the branches.

Nice shot Alvin. It looks like there are quite a few conflicting elements around this scene, and you've done well to find some good composition, from the tree, its branches, and the curve of the wall.
(Don't fancy the guy on the mobile though! Perhaps you could have waited for a more elegant passer by to occupy this space! :)

Hi Alvin. It's neat with those big braches working horizontally. This POV doesn't look familiar at all to me, which is a good thing. The colors are as good on the ground as they are in the tree. The people and dog add life and movement. Well done Alvin.

Hi Alvin - fantastic autumn colour in an urban setting, the backlighting helped bring out the colour, True, eastern Canada has better colour, but there it only lasts a couple weeks, in the pacific NW the colours last much longer

Alvin I can see that Autumn in Vancouver is very beautiful here. A gorgous scene cerated by using the lovely shaped tree to fill the frame and actually make the photo fantastic. From this position the walkway is a lovely perspective line into the frame. However I think the fella with the cell phone should be jogging instead of talking, Cheers. A fine photo showing good planning on your part. Cheers as always!
