Photographer's Note
There really are no two snowflakes that are exactly alike! Here is my attempt to photograph the evidence. Yes, we Florida children are still fascinated by and enjoying the snow. Especially after last week when it all got washed away in the rain, but the sky was gray and sunless for a full week! I wish that my little camera could do a better macro on the little flakes, because they really are lovely. Has anyone else tried to take a photograph of a snowflake or two? I wonder if you could take a better macro of these with a magnifying glass beside the lens...
------------
And with that, I am off to more research, on Canada - the land and its people, as well as all the other stuff children need and want to know about the world. I don't look forward to leaving TE for a while, because it seems to grow up and change so when I'm away for a while, just like a child! Take care everyone. Enjoy your winter - or your summer if you've got it!

Hi
I am fascinated by your photo and how clearly some of the snow flakes look like the christmas ornaments on my tree. I think your macro did ok, but it maight be fun experimenting with a magnifying glass too.
also boosting up on the contrast may bring about some details.
Happy new year

Michelle, what a poetry this pic! I think that you enjoy this snow more than me because of you children. Now I am no more happy when the snow falls. But I am moved by your snow flakes.
Have a great 2006!! Livia

Hi Michelle. A lovely idea to get up close and personal with some snowflakes. Probably a bit closer would be more effective, and perhaps more colour contrast with the background would help too. Nevertheless, we can see enough of the shapes to be fascinated by their beauty. I take it from your note that you and John and the family are off travelling - have fun and we look forward to your return and some more of your thoughtful shots from Canada.

Hi Michelle, Happy New Year. This is a nice study of snowflakes. I like the diagonakl compo. The feeling of the pic is one of transience. Well seen & done.
Good luck with your research, I guess it's vital, but dn't stay away too long :-)
Regards from Rotterdam and take care,
Bert

You have some really pretty specimens there! Your DOF is very good and shows wonderful detail on the flakes.

Never, Michelle, have I had the idea of shooting snowflakes as individuals in a macro. So just your imaginative approach - which perhaps comes from not being too used to snow - is well worth the appreciation. And the way you shot them is nice, very discernible and with a correct DOF - although, as you say, your camera doesn't do too well on macros. I'm not sure about adding an external magnifying glass, but it's worth a try. Very well done!
