Photographer's Note
In Calgary, there is a historical village known as Heritage Park which has numerous rides and buildings from the early 1900s where volunteers will reenact tasks and occupations which existed then. I have probably in total visited at least fifty times since I was younger and next to the ferris wheel and caterpillar, my favourite 'spot' to visit was the blacksmith's shop.
I decided to change this image to black and white with the hopes of giving an 'old' feel with the highlight being on the defining characteristics of what a blacksmith would have done a century ago.
This photo was taken with a borrowed Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II and Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS lens. Focal length was 200mm, ISO 640.

Well done Brittany. I think your decision to convert the image to black and white is a good one. You do well capturing this scene at 1/50th of a second, though the image stabilization on this lens may have helped if you had it turned on. The full EXIF data isn't posted but you are likely aware as owner of a 350D that this camera does very well with high ISO settings, so you could have gained a bit of an advantage by increasing that setting. But the image is sharp, the tonal range nice with a hint of the bokeh produced by this lens at f/2.8. I really like the focus on the gloved hand, the hammer, anvil... a man working. Very good work young woman.

Hi again Brittany, once more an excellent tonal range in this photo. The camera and lens combination ensures stunning sharpness and texture (although I'm not sure at the TE image size that it is better than you've achieved with your 350D). Perhaps the photo could have benefitted from a little more depth-of-field to bring the hammer into a shade more sharpness but I'm getting fussy now. I certainly look forward to more of your B&W photos which really are of the highest tonal quality. Stephen
