Pointe-des-Monts Lighthouse, a photo from Quebec, Central

Photographer's Note

Situated where the St Lawrence River merges into the Gulf of St Lawrence, scenic Pointe-des-Monts, has not changed since the nineteenth century.

Mind you, there's not a lot to change - all that stands on this rocky outcrop is Quebec's second oldest lighthouse dating from 1830 and a small missionary chapel built in 1898.

Hi Andre,
Not much change, let's be grateful for that. These kinds of places are becoming rare in the world, we should nourish them.
Your picture had great depth, also made by the V lines in the foreground which leads our eye accros the water (nice reflection) to the lighthouse it self.
The red colour is standing is perfect contrast to the brown of the rocks and the soft blue in the sky....great composition.
I like this one a lot...great piece of work.

Te voila de retour parmi nous Cousin, je vois que tu as choisi un sujet fort pour marquer les esprits, ce phare c'est un peu le reve de tout photographe, d'abord pour ses couleurs qui dechirent et permettent de bien beaux contrastes, et ensuite pour le style superbe de la maison a son pied, si elle est reservee au gardien du phare je suis candidat pour le job ;-)
comme une belle photo comme ca motive mon photoshop je t'ai prepare un petit WS.

Very beautiful Andre! I love how you framed the water around these brown polished stones. It gives an incredible depth to the picture and makes the foreground very interesting. The perfect placement of the lighthouse really boosts the composition and the light captured by you and your camera is also very good. Love those red stripes, they give a lot of contrast to the scene. The lovely blue clouded sky and the green grass on the bottom make the rest. Very good indeed!

Hi Andre,
very good "cadrage" with a reflection that shows the entire lighthouse, but it is not as perfect as on a mirror, like in the majority of reflection shots I see on TE. It is only a pity that the light comes nearly from behind the lighthouse, that for this reason is a bit too in a shadow. Congratulations, Dario

It definitely shows up that it is a very old building and it has been painted. Great reflection of the light house in river. Nice clear sky.

The bright colors of the lighthouse stand out so well against the blue of the sky and the dark rock. Good POV showing the reflection in the froeground to break the area up.

Ohhhhh c'est fort ces couleurs, ca tape sans être trop saturé, c'est superbe.
Le pdv avec ce reflet dans l'eau et ce cadrage avec cette roche sur le bas, c'est vraiment bon.
J'ai un coup de coeur pour les couleurs que t'as fait ressortir, c'est pas lumineux, mais les teitnes sont vivantes, sacré effet.

Tu vois ce que je veux dire par tes photos si "pures"? Je sais, je suis supposée être en train de passer l'aspirateur et de peinturer, mais le bordel peut toujours attendre! C'est que j'ai décidé de me perdre un peu dans ta galerie. Une fois de plus. Et d'être encore une fois impressionnée. Tu as vu ce rouge éclatant et ce blanc plus que blanc? Ce reflet si enchanteur et superbement mis en scène? Ce cadrage im-pec-ca-ble! On s'en fout de ton bordel André, tant que tu donneras à nos yeux tes bijoux de photos!

C'est une très bonne photo André.Ton cadrage est particulièrement réussi,tu as la réflexion en entier.Pas comme moi avec mon église de Thorailles!Je n'ai pas réussi avoir la flèche en entier dans la marre!Je n'avais pas assez de recul et j'utilise souvent le grand angle.Si tu veux aller voir tu me donneras ton avis.
Bravo pour cette belle réalisation.

Amazing colours! Surprising isn't it how the same scene can be so different in various conditions and at special times!
Nicely captured with the reflections. I find that I have a sense of the tower leaning... emphasized by the heavy frame.

Salut André,

Je suis tombé sur cette photo un peu par hasard. Pas tout neuf tout ça.
Pour un amoureux des phares comme moi, ça accroche le regard avec ce zébré rouge-blanc, l'ensemble assorti avec la maison du gardien et le cadrage jouant avec le reflet.
Si un jour je vais au Québec, je ferai un détour pour aller voir ce beau phare.
