Photographer's Note

The fall of Rivière-du-Loup in Quebec produced by a stopping. A hydro-electric power station was exploited at this place of 1885 to 1978. It was back in service in 1995.

The photograph was taken the evening of Christmas. On the left, We can see an accumulation of ice created by the fall.

Some modifications on the level of contrast.

very interesting picture..different levels of contrast and crispiness at left and right makes it look like a model...(did you overincrease contrast on the icy part on the left ? )..

Very nice image. Well cropped and perfectly exposed to get the correct light. Perhaps a bit burned on strong light, but a wonderful photo.

Très bel effet dû au temps d'exposition qui donne de la force à cette chute d'eau. Le cadrage est très bien fait et donne un bon équilibre à cet photo. Les quais en bas à droite donnent une bonne idée de la grandeur de cette chute.

Vraiment bien réussie cette photo de la chute à RDL. J'ai déjà visité et je voyais difficilement le potentiel pour une belle photo, ce que tu as réussi avec brio. Belle ambiance créée par ces tons de bruns, chute "douce" et cadrage intéressant qui permet de voir la chute dans son environnement.

Wow, this is a fabulous picture. The long exposure time and especially the combination with the artificial light makes it very different from other waterfall shots. The orange sky gives the picture a nice touch of colour. Good job!

Les couleurs sont vraiment mystérieuses et magiques et cela donne au final une image vraiment pas banale.
J'aime beaucoup !
J'ai passé deux jours à Rivière-de-Loup il y a quelques années, mais je ne connaissais pas cette chute.

L'effet de la chute d'eau est très bien réussit. l'éclairage sur le mur de glace donne de beau résultat. Beau travail...en plein soir de Noël.

La longue pose donne un effet de lissage vraiment beau sur cette chute d'eau, j'aime bien le cadrage le seul bémol est pour le projecteur mais il a aussi son rôle pour le superbe éclairage de la paroi glacée.

Surrealt atmosphere here probably caused by the flat orange light and the lack of anything to measure scale by. I love the smoothness of the water and the detail in the ice. Good composition too though I wonder what it would have been like if you'd managed to hide that light source.

J'ai vu cette image dernièrement ! je savais qu'elle était digne de mention... magnifique prise de vue Jérome, on dirait une chute laiteuse... très bonne exposition, le luminaire en haut de la chute produit un reflet tel la lune sur la rivière.

Stunning image! It looks like a sci-fi scenery because of the colors and the lights and a surreal softness. great composition with the diagonals of the hills and the waterfall forcing us to look at the center of the image whici is quite uncommon.

Bonjour, je n'avais pas vu cette photo qui me fait penser au film de science fiction Dune.... Quoi dire de plus que le cadrage, la netteté et la lumière sont parfaites et que cela nous montre un endroit qui pourrait être très technique et ordinaire, d'une manière très surréaliste. Bravo l'artiste.

Dis tu crois qu'on a encore quelque chose à apprendre à un photographe cameraman qui fait des photos sublimes comme ça. On ne peut que rester cloué d'admiration et applaudir. Très belle composition, étonnante atmosphère nocture et beau filé de l'eau grâce à la pause longue. Et si vraiment tu insistes pour trouver un défaut, je dirai l'éclairage brûlé en haut du barrage mais vraiment pour montrer que je suis jalouse.

Excellente photo! L'ambiance est très belle! Le fait de voir les lumières en arrière me fait vraiment voir que c'est le temps des fêtes! Le Spot donne vraiment une belle lumière à la chute et la glace! je trouve que tu étais bien placé et que la photo créé une très belle ambiance des fêtes! je te félicites!

This one definitely deserves all the attention it received, you have shoed us that even power generators can be beautifull. The tonlality of this image is spectacular, great PP, the way you have captured the water is absolutely out of this world, the ice creations are also very nice. Is this a cross (the red thing) at the top of the hill? Regardless what it is it adds an interest to an already interesting image, the only blemish IMO is the overexposed light at the top of the power plant.

Wow jerome, great picture. Here in Wageningen (the Netherlands) there are no such spectecular scenes. The slow shutter gives it a special atmosphere.
