Lighthouse at Barbie Hour, a photo from Quebec, Central

Photographer's Note

The night I took this photo, I’ve been bitten all over by fierce mosquitoes and ravenous flies, as the forest is just behind me... There where so many that I was sure they would have obstruct the view, flying in front of the lens...

Here’s another version of the same lighthouse, during the day, when there’s no mosquitoes.

That's so.... pink! I could even imagine Barbie taking a walk, obviously she's more lucky and mosquitos wouldn't bite her.... A very good composition, lighthouses are always something nice to see.

I had the same problem during a night shoot in the Lake District last year but because I was using exposure times of several minutes the insects that I swatted off the front of my lens didn't show up in the pictures.
This is a great shot. The colours are intense, and I like the overall darkness of the image, it definitely adds to the atmosphere.
It could have done with a bit more of a gap between the reflected lighthouse and the bottom of the frame, but overall this is well balanced and well taken.

Hello Andre,
A very well composed and very colorful image of this lighthouse. Excellent image (of course the processing that we need do to compress our photos for posting on the web doesn't do our originals justice). I'll bet that the original in its full res glory is stunning. I like your daytime shot even more. The lighting isn't as dramatic with the sunset colors, but I prefer your vertically framed photo better. This is my opinion for what it is worth. Well done!

Wondeful composition for this amazing pink landscape. I like the horizon in the middle of the picture with the reflecion of lighthouse in the water.

PS... maintenant qu j y pense, deux ou trois chiens m ont pourchassé a Loha Prasat, mais vers la sortie du fort blanc en allant vers golden mountain.. ;D

Une compo d'ecole et un timing qui est pile poil pour illustrer ton propos, c'est propre et une belle photo, cela dit je prefere quand meme la version diurne, ca donne un peut trop l'air manipule ces barbie shots, en plus tu peux shooter sans tes amis les mosquitoes et aller feter cette prise reussie en commandant une Sam Adams a la buvette pas loin...

Great shot Andre! I love you Barbie hour shots! :) I can understand you quite well with that mosquito issue. When I am close to rivers at sunset it's always the same thing. It can be really annoying!!! Great composition and perfect light.

Les couleurs sont vraiment marrantes et j'aime le titre qui sied bien à cette teinte rose violacée. J'ignorai que le sang des moustiques pouvait servir de filtre pour donner cette teinte particulière.... ;-)

must have been a colorful night, since even its picture is so lively - well seen (sorry about the mosquitoes, though - i know they don't leave pleasant memories)
the day view is very pretty, too - even without barbie's pink(ish) influence!
