Midnight Blue, a photo from Alberta, Prairies

Photographer's Note

I took this shot five nights ago at midnight on Lake Edith in the Canadian Rockies. As it's creeping towards the longest day of the year, a bit of light was still visible on the horizon.

From a 26 second exposure, two Raw photos - HDR. Cropped and contrast altered in Photoshop CS2.

This very well composed wide angle photo, and have great atmosphere! I like kept here blue tones. Beautiful clouds over mountains and pink glimmer on horizon after right.

Excellent shot! The compo is extraordinary, with the diagonal beach, the triangular lake, and the rectangular background. A geometrical structure very interesting. The most impressive is the color schema, this blue gives a strange feeling of cold and mystery. A beautiful night shot. Thanks.

It's amazing to think that this was shot at midnight, and there is still some light in the sky! Great work, with a very smooth glow to the water, resulting in an unusually milky blue look. I like those rocks in the foreground too, and the way the clouds in the sky complement them so well. Excellent work!

Have you been suffering from insomnia Doug? Either way it was definately worth getting out for this. Has a really eerie moody feeling to it, accentuated by the cool blues. I hope bears sleep at night!

Wonderful shot, the strong blue cast creates a great atmosphere and the clouds really draw the eye into the shot. Good work.
