Photographer's Note
For once carrying My Heavy Telephoto lens paid off. I was about to start leaving it home. Lately almost all my shot were made with my 24-105. This fella was so still that I was able to make a long exposure whitout getting it blurred in the shot. Not my usual style but really happy of the outcome.

Hoh... that is the high style of photography. Silent dream to make something similar in future...
Btw that birdie - we have one similar, but very rare.

Bravo

Wow, this is absolutely fabulous! Actually the effect is quite similar to another picture on TE titled "Smooth River" and made by "Surfer31". But they are very different in colour. That one has currently 114 points... Nothing more to add!

Yes, like Michael says, this looks like Surfer31's Smooth River, but is still different and perfect on it's own. The effect of the water is outstanding and I would like to thank the bird for standing this still ;o)

Beautiful shot, excellent use of an unusually long exposure time for bird photography. Perfect sharpness and composition.

Wonderful photo Pat,
the smoothness and whiteness of the water is amazing. You were so lucky that the bird remained still. Playing with the shutter speed as you did gives great results. It shows here! bravo! I like the DOf and the sharp focus on the bird.

To be honest I actually like this one better. I love the waves at the bottom of the picture the way they are curved and smooth. Its amazing that the heron, rock and log are perfectly focused. Well done

Excellente photo.

Think this one is better than your vertical one. You should take you longer lens out more often, great shot.

Excellent capture, I can't believe you got this night heron to sit so still for a second. Great image, composition is really good and the timed exposure and clarity of the heron make this a wonderful picture, well done.

This is a truly wonderful picture. The colours are superb and the smooth swirl of the water is bettered only by the stillness and clarity of the bird. Great shot Pat. Thank you.

Hola Pat.

Great photo, I'm speechless. The bird is special, but I have to say, that the effect of the water makes it perfect. And the bird is a good focal point.

You should catch these shots more often. It is alot harder to catch such a great shot of a bird and the flowing of the water.

I really like how you captured the bird's stillness and the water's motion, just the right exposure.
