When the lake was calm, a photo from Ontario, Central

Photographer's Note

I took this photo a while back while I was out for a walk with one of my dogs. The air was crisp and the wind calm. I'm not positive but by looking at the flowers that weren't dried up I think these dried of flowers are Queen Annes' Lace. A white wild flower that grows like crazy around here. Most call them weeds but I do have a few in my perinneal gardens because the butterflies like them.

I titled my photo back when the lake was calm because today and yesterday we've had 25 to 30 knot winds blowing. Yesterday they were blowing right at our house straight on and raining so I couldn't even open the front doors to let the dogs out, nor would they go out. We had to use the back door, which amazinly was dry and calm as the house was a great buffer for the wind! It is a beautiful lake whatever the weather, when its calm its peaceful, when its windy , the waves are crashing and the wind is blowing so that sometimes you can't hear anything else and you realize the power of nature and you realize just how small you are.

A good POV of lake Erie and of the vegetation in the foreground, the photo has a good composition, DOF and nice colors. Thanks for sharing.

nice the view of the calm lake with these weeds to decorate the foreground of your shot.The minimum i think blur background brink out the details in these beach flowers.Informative your note about the winds blowing your house and your difficulty to open the door.Well done Donna.

I like the simplicity of this composition and the wild beauty of this landscape, with the flowers in foreground and the lake and the sky in a blue background very elegant.
If in this photo the lake is calm, I do not want to imagine how it must be when it gets upset.

You must have a strong house then Donna!
Imagine that, not being able to open the front door because of driving rain and windforce!
The advantage is that you can let that wind blow away cobwebs in your head - works for me anytime.

Donna,
certainly a typical scene form a walk along the Lake Eire (?). The composition with the look through the dried flowers is a great one and gives an idea of a "calm" day.
