Photographer's Note
This is the time of year when we see colorful leaves in North American .Leaves are nature's food factories. Plants take water from the ground through their roots. They take a gas called carbon dioxide from the air. Plants use sunlight to turn water and carbon dioxide into glucose. Glucose is a kind of sugar. Plants use glucose as food for energy and as a building block for growing. The way plants turn water and carbon dioxide into sugar is called photosynthesis. That means "putting together with light." A chemical called chlorophyll helps make photosynthesis happen. Chlorophyll is what gives plants their green color.
As summer ends and autumn comes, the days get shorter and shorter. This is how the trees "know" to begin getting ready for winter.
During winter, there is not enough light or water for photosynthesis. The trees will rest, and live off the food they stored during the summer. They begin to shut down their food-making factories. The green chlorophyll disappears from the leaves. As the bright green fades away, we begin to see yellow and orange colors. Small amounts of these colors have been in the leaves all along. We just can't see them in the summer, because they are covered up by the green chlorophyll.
The bright reds and purples we see in leaves are made mostly in the fall. In some trees, like maples, glucose is trapped in the leaves after photosynthesis stops. Sunlight and the cool nights of autumn cause the leaves turn this glucose into a red color. The brown color of trees like oaks is made from wastes left in the leaves.
It is the combination of all these things that make the beautiful colors we enjoy in the fall.

Hello Donna,
Strong attractive autumn colours have been captured!
Something special about autumn in Canada, not many places you can find colours as burning red as this...
A nice frame, the blue sky in the back adds colour contrast and attraction value!

Hi Donna,
this is the autumn summarized in an only image. A frame with a closed plane really effective with a strong graphical impact and magnificent autumnal colors.
I like it, is a simple and direct image, very good.

Hi Donna! ;-)
Such a beautiful shot you have uploaded!
I love how the colour takes the leading role within your image! This brown redish shade takes the whole view, and give a very impressive warm and interesting appearance to your composition.
Though most of people doesn´t like Autumm or Winter, their colours, as you show, are awesome!
Congratulations!
Cheers and thank you for your words about my last image!
Take care!

Hi Donna,
Strongly impressionistic flash of all the red maple leaves. I've been looking for fall colours too, whenever sun happens to shine. Tree trunk frames the scene well on the left.

Hi Donna,
A fine cluster of blazing leaves, caught in strong light that you managed well. Although not entirely in focus perhaps, the leaves contribute a rather painterly look, and I especially like the trunk anchoring the frame on the left. There is just enough sky to enhance and provide that extra hue of blue. Fine work...later.
