Photographer's Note
The main staircase of the City hall of La Rochelle dates 1877. It is the third version of this staircase which was restored not long ago. The staircase of the architect Just man Lisch contains a canopy where is installed a statue of King Henri IV in polychromatic earthenware.
Yesterday, the roof of the City hall was totally ravaged by a spectacular fire.

Hi JJ
reminds me SO much of some scenes in San Francisco.
The only thing that you're missing to make this scene even more attractive is an attractive model in a long skirt and high heels with long flowing hair :)
haha
even without that magical lady, its elegant, classic and strong.
nice cut
cheers

Hello Jean Jacques,
A wonderful view on these stair, a wonderful entrance.
Everything in nice white stone.
But excellent choice of your angle, this cares for depth and perspective.
Sharpness and clarity are very attractive.
Composition and presentation be superb. TFS.
Have a nice weekend,
John.

Hello Jean-Jacques,
I have read about this terrible fire and just hope that this wonderful building can be restored to its former glory as quickly as possible. Good capture of this magnificent staircase which is an open invitation to the viewer to step in and explore further. Excellent colours and clarity.

Bonjour JJ,
On doit se sentir grandi lorsque l'on monte ces marches. Pas question de tenir la rampe car on pourrait paraître faible. Une invitation vers un passé fabuleux.
Bon samedi

Hi JJ,
Beautiful piece of design, I love how the stairs spill out at the bottom, almost like liquid. This fine work would look equally at home in a fine big fairytale caste. Sorry to hear the place was damaged by fire too, not too badly I hope?
All the best

Excellent choice of composition, this courtyard is full of so many interesting architectural elements, it is hard to choose where to focus.
I am distressed to hear about the fire. My ancestors lived in La Rochelle in the 16th century and I travelled there in 2008...my memory is that the inside of the city hall had wonderful woodwork...and there was a beautiful round tower on one side...

Bonsoir Jean-Jacques,
Ta photo, prise il y a deux mois, a malheureusement été rattrapée par l'actualité ! Belle présentation de ces escaliers fraîchement restaurés, et bien cadrés.
Bonne soirée,

Hi Jean
Superb study of lines, curves and forms. Fabulous and compliments to the architect who created it decades ago but what about the clever tradesmen who turned the architects pretty picture into reality? A very nice eye catching old staircase so finely taken. Well done.
Best regards

Bonjour JJ
The framing in the composition has been done well. The rails are so very elegant and your picture highlights this well. The red door is a strong point of attention. Well done!
Best Regards

namaste JJ,
an interesting composition from your oldies. Great effect of minimalism can be seen here. Excellent depth and clarity. The staircase is looking so graphical as ever and the maroon coloured door at left is a bonus to your composition. Superb work. Tfs.

Bonjour Jean Jacques
Vu le raffinement de l'ouvrage, je l'ai d'abord mépris pour une section d'escalier du Paradis avec porte d'élévateur pour éviter la 'longue et pénible ascension' moyennant généreuse contribution!
Amicalement.
Robert
