Photographer's Note

Facing the Western winds and the waves rolling in from the Atlantic Ocean, the South-Western coastline of Portugal has kept its wild character, stretching from Europe's South-Western tip at Cabo de Sao Vicente Northwards to Sines.

Hi Paul,
This coast reminds me so much of the southern coastline of Australia.
The wind and sea battered cliffs facing the ferocious windswept ocean look fantastic. I love the inclusion of the foreground flowers, they bring a touch of gentleness to this otherwise wild and rugged scene.
It is a wonderful capture.

Hello Paul,

This rekindles memories to my one and only visit to Portugal, sadly, before I took an interest in photography.
The gentle f/g of wild flowers anchors the viewer safely, before the vast seascape emphasises the wildness of the coast by its strong contrast.
I like how you have created the depth by the minimal use of the sky.

The powerful surf leaves a wonderful contrast of white on blue.
The foreground of lush green hills beach and rugged cliffs leads the eye gently to the varying shades of blue in sea and sky.

spectacular view. I am jealous. I spend two weeks in Portugal last summer but it is really not enough to fully appreciate what this beautiful country has to offer. The coastline is so full of variety. Here I admire the depth of the field stretching from the beautifully chosen foreground with flowers to the dramatic horizon. Great luminosity and a good vantage point to enjoy that marine view. The wild flowers in FG made for an excellent starting point and added a good sense of depth.

Hello Paul, without reading the country name I certainly recognized that was Portugal with the view of the ocean and"the vegetation nearby. I guess, it was taken from the south-westernmost part of Portugal towards the north. I liked the depth of field and the overall view of the crazy ocean. Congratulations, Tolga
