Photographer's Note

The description is correct. This religious building near the Wendelstein house is often misunderstood as a chapel, but is really a church, bearing parish rights, where catholic mass will be read regularly from May into October. It was consecrated in 1890.
In this context, it is the highest church in Germany above sea level. There are higher chapels, for instance on Zugspitze, Germany's highest summit, but also on Wendelstein summit itself.
