Photographer's Note
This is another angle of two photos I took while flying down the Detroit River. Check out the other one here . The foreground contains the shoreline of the river and the Renaissance Center. The roads that stretch out to the background are Grand River on the right and Michigan Ave. on the left. If you look closely down Michigan Ave., you can see Tiger Stadium.

I think I like this view a bit more. It places the RenCen in a more prominent spot as an anchor. Downtown and both the stretches out Michigan and Grand River open up more fluidly. It also moves more interestingly from the biggest buildings, the RenCen, to the smaller buildings of the financial district and then the much smaller buildings beyond. It nicely exaggerates the scale. This is also nice and sharp and has good contrast. The buildings stand out beautifully. I can even spot Michigan Central. Excellent colors, too. The greens stand out great and really show the "re-greening" of downtown. This view shows a bit better, too, the way the city looks like a forest from the sky. And I75 looks like a dry river meandering north of downtown. All the trees and open fields mixed with buildings makes it seem like a park stretching out from downtown. Very nicely done.
Thanks for posting this one of the westside. It doesn't quite make it to my neighborhood but it's out there, along Michigan in the haze beyond the frame.

Excellent! I love 'earth below' shots and this one is up there in my favorites. The four buildings in the foreground are very well placed to anchor the photograph ... and then your reader's eyes go from there to explore the rest of the photo. It is really a beautiful view of Detroit that is seldom seen ... this is what TrekEarth is all about!

I love these arial shots of downtown. The colors here are great even though it was a bit hazy that day and I'm sure you were shooting through a window. This particular view is wonderful since you can see right down the radial roads--great composition! Too bad for that little bit of wing in the corner. Overall great job!
I'm guessing you're a pilot, but were you flying a smaller private plane on this day? Is it a hobby or do you do it professionally? Where do you usually depart from?

Hi Brian,
This shot is much more crisp and has greater depth of filed than the other Detroit shot.
Good job.
Keep up the good work.
peace,
haans :)
