Photographer's Note

Yesterday got out for a short paddle on the Mohawk River to this adjoining Alplaus Creek.
The weather this autumn has been a miserable mixture of rain and abnormally low temps.
Will try to get out again on Thurs. which will have similar temps in the high 50's with mostly sunny skies.

Hi Tom,

I really like the idea of an image from the "cockpit", particularly when seeing the tip of the kayak.

The colours are nice and so is the detail from the red house. Peaceful mood.

Oh, man, there are those New England fall colors... Shame about the weather being so miserable. That color is just flat awesome, though. Wonderful clarity, perfect sharpness. MAD nice reflections. WOW. I love that view over the prow of your kayak, too. That is so cool. We're having crap weather, too and I don't feel like getting out in it to see if fall has arrived here yet. :))) Many thanks and hope you have a great day Thursday.

That's quite a view you've got from the engine room of your kayak.
Beautiful autumn colours, and that spot red, superb.
Strange the some parts of the reflections look slightly sharper than the real thing.
It looks quiet and peaceful, just the way it should.

Hello Tom,
A lovely colourful autumnal image. The light is perfect to bring out the tones in the foliage to great effect. I know that including the bow of your canoe in the frame is one of your signatures, but I can't help wondering whether it is not a bit too intrusive here. Just my personal opinion.

Tom,
I like your composition here using the tip of the kayak to lead the eye into the scene. The reflection is great adding depth and balance for the shot. The autumn colors are great and you have presented them nicely.

The red color of the house on the right arise very well in the warm colors of the autumn. Very good photowork.

Fantastic. Autumn colours captured whilst enjoying a peaceful paddle - you lucky boy :) Reflections are marvelous. When I was a young man my dad had a framed large autumn photograph (USA scene) hanging in his garage where I often tinkered on my motor bikes. This brought back many memories. Thanks.

This frame is blessed with wonderful autumn light, rendering rich powerful colours of the season!
And the river is cooperative and provides a perfect mirror...
Otherwise I have experienced a lousy autumn weather too, with a early windy period ribbed most of the trees for the foliage..!

Great Golds .. I love how they are reflecting off your kayak .. something really inviting about the bend in the trees (especially in the reflection) .. maybe the way their bend echoes your kayak.
