Photographer's Note
This is it - the Statue, and I am in its crown (taking this picture)!!!
The Statue of Liberty's shadow on the Liberty Island in New York.
It took about 3 hours to get there on the narrow spiral staircase, it was also scary, but my friends and I were happy that we made it!
Now, when I see the Statue, I always think: I was there, right in its crown, and it makes me proud of myself! :) It was a really exciting experience.
This experience is even more valuable at this time, because the access is restricted now, as far as I know, because of the recent, very sad, events in New York City. I hope everything comes to norm soon!
P.S. On November 12, 2005: I created a workshop, improving my own photo. I cropped it a little on the right, saturated the colors and added a bit of sharpness. Please let me know what you think, was it an improvement or not really?.. :)
Thanks, I appreciate your opinion!
Irina, the Traveller.

Respect to you. I'll suggest an improvement: make deeper colours it is a little bit bright for my taste!!!

Hi Irina
An original capture of the statue, indirectly, so to speak. I like it.

Excellent capture. I never went to the crown even when I had the chance so I'm jealous!
Great photo!

What an interesting point of view. I think we are all focused on the view from up there that we sometimes forget to look down. It's a great thing that you did. The people certainly add to the scale of things here. But that shadow is great. It's nice and strong and has strong solid lines giving it a very graphic appeal. I love the digaonals. I was thinking of other ways you could crop this, too. Perhaps less of the heavy shadow on the right and having the statue and the and just a little to your right instead. But it works well like this also. Very well seen Irinia.
