Photographer's Note
Continuing on my cell phone theme...I was out on the town, testing the low-light capabilities of my D200 when I spotted this young lady seemingly lost in cell phone heaven. I noticed that she already had in her hand a very nice cell phone. This made me think of what the digital era has done to myself, and a whole bunch of people. I love electronics, and gadgets, and as a photo buff, I love the latest equipment. New cell phones are coming out faster than you can blink your eye. You can watch tv, play games, go on the internet, and a million other things with your cell, it's easy to forget that it's supposed to be a "phone" first, and foremost. Same with digital cameras; we're so obsessed with the latest, and greatest, it's easy to forget that it is a camera, meant for TAKING PICTURES!! The latest generation (even the previous generation) are so good, I can't imagine anyone needing more, but I will...and you will! Mark my words! I am not a particularly religious man, but this made me think of something the present Pope (Benedict) said recently. I don't recall his exact words, but he warned his flock to be careful not to make technology a god. I thought that was a great, timely statement reflective of the current digital era.
Note: This image was taken in a part of midtown sometimes known as "Korean-Town." The ISO was 800 at f/5.6

I like your title, and your note very much!! Making technology a god. I think the whole world is in a hurry to do that.
As for the picture .. You caught her expression so well. Very often you see a friend or a colleague with a better model your mind immediately wonders if its time for an upgrade. We are indeed spoilt for choice if we finally decide we need a new one.
To modify a famous quote "The piece is always better on the other side of the glass window"
Very nice daily life street shot! Well done, my friend.

Hi Sam
Great composition and very interesting point of view, nice play with diagonal lines. The detail of she being looking to the cell phones when she already have got one in her hand.... what a casualty!

Nice tilt with those diagonal lines cutting across the frame. the glittery blue tinsel bits (stars) on the upper left are cool, sending us back to the blue found on the brigt side of the store. The Korean lady makes the picture global, could be a mall in Singapore, well HK in the winter maybe...certainly Tokyo!
Good note too,
Cheers,
Francis

Hi Sam, I like the tilt on this one, it's gives it a dynamic feel. Great colours too - am I right in saying you didn't use a flash? Good use of the exposure settings in that case! Nice title too.

Hi Sam!
Another photo no one would think about take but you did and it is great. The colours, the light, the contrast between her clothes and the colourful shopping window and her expression. Well done!
Regards, Anabela
