Photographer's Note
We have entered the Battle of the Bulge Gallery of the Road to Berlin: European Theater Galleries section of The National WWII Museum. This was my favorite scene in the museum: a whitewashed Opel 6 (produced from 1934 to 1937).
The National WWII Museums Road to Berlin features [this] whitewashed vehicle in [their] Battle of the Bulge gallery. An Opel 6, painted in a brown and tan pattern, was chosen to illustrate the desperate state of the Nazi German mechanization during the war. Despite popular perceptions of the Nazi military as a highly modernized and mechanized force, vehicles were always in short supply. Civilian vehicles were often used to fill in as staff cars, ambulances, and courier vehicles, including this Opel luxury sedan. This vehicle was whitewashed by Museum curators to demonstrate the technique used by soldiers [for winter camouflage] throughout the war. The addition of blackout slits painted onto the vehicles headlights and branches to the top of the car would have made it nearly invisible from both the air and the ground. (from The National WWII Museum, See & Hear: The Museum Blog, Whitewashing the Road to Berlin Opel.)
The workshop contains two other photos from this gallery. One shows this Opel 6 & Her Admirers from a different angle while the other provides a more comprehensive view of the gallery.
Ulusal II.

Hello Murat,
The angle of this old car in the museum made the scene more interesting.
German Opel had contributed a lot to the German, as other industries during the WW2, they did not have much of a choice.
regards,
Ike

Hello Murat,
This photo gives me strong reminiscences of my 11 months doing national military service in the Swedish army more than 50 years ago. I didn't expect to be reminded of it by a photo from an American museum on WWII.
Regards,
Gert

Hi, Murat.
A really fantastic scene, the one of the car that has been attacked with part of the pine trees fallen on it, a great realism.
Very good brightness and perfect sharpness.
Well done. I like it.
You have a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Murat,
A good impression of the WW2 battle, illustrated by this old Opel. You handled the low lighting well.

Hi Murat,a symbol of the 2nd world war,i seen this car in a lot of documentaries on TV. One is there in this musuem and you caught that in a perfect way,a front view and a different one in the WS,interesting the "showroom" dedicated to the Bastogne battle in the other WS. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hi Murat,
as I already wrote: this is such a great idea! The museum is of course focused on a sad chapter of human history but it is a very important chapter and we need to remember it so it never happens again.
Quite photogenic scenes selected,
Very well done,
M

Hi Murat,
Nice shot of the old WWII vehicle, camouflaged by the branches of the pine tree. Good sharpness and well managed low interior light levels. Tfs!

Hello, Murat!
It reminds me of an old car I photographed once in Uruguay and posted here some time ago. There were some plants growing in that car, so it looks just like that! The composition is very interesting, and you captured the scene with very good light! Well done!

looks like the old car was escaping in the middle of the forest when it was hit by the bombs.anyway can be a very different thing. nice view with the classic shapes of the car in evidence.

Hi Murat,
I am not surprised this was your favourite display in the museum. This old wreck of a car, simply decorated with a green branch, is very appealing on the blue-lit background.
But the note tells us more than just the nice look in the display : Shortage of cars in the war and camouflage... Very interesting !
Thanks for sharing. Best regards.
Marie-Louise.
