Photographer's Note
Another in my ongoing project to visit and photograph all 50 US state capitol buildings. This series is from Annapolis, the capital city of Maryland.
Maryland's state house, the bright white tower at center-right in the frame, sits within a few hundred yards or meters of Annapolis' harbor, a wonderful Chesapeake port full of pleasure craft from all over the world. At night, the area lights up splendidly, as seen in this shot from across the bay.
For some reason the shutter speed didn't get recorded by the EXIF data here, but it was a 20 second exposure at f/10, ISO 100.

Welcome back dear Andrew
Both you and your Dad have been missed, understandably. I guessed you were doing baby daddy things and am delighted that you've had a holiday. I see you're back on your Statehouse theme, the difference this being a nocturnal shot, and what a beauty. Combined with the water, the silvery light and the reflections have combined to create a magical piece of photography.
Thanks for sharing, have a lovely day

Hello Andrew,
Well, your project on US State Capitol Buildings is proceeding apace and this is another splendid example with an interesting and informative note too.
This is a lovely night time photograph which looks wonderful here but at its full size of 1500 x 1000 pixels it looks absolutely spectacular! Your composition is both excellent and pleasing, your exposure perfect, the light and the reflections on the calm water are sublime and the details and sharpness are exquisite throughout.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Andrew,
Welcome back, I'm not here as much either. One post per week at most. Too busy.
This is really a very beautiful night shot, full of mood and romantic atmosphere. At least it was taken in the summer and not in the cold that you folks in the East Coast has to endure this winter. Yet we had the warmest and driest season out West. We should really meet somewhere in between, not the exact opposite and extreme.
I have not done a city light shot in awhile, so this is a treat for me to look at. I do wish to visit the East Coast again soon. It's been a long time again since I was there before the digital camera days.
Stay warm and take care.

Hi Andrew
won't it be rewarding for you once you have your complete 50 US State capitol buildings!
you should put them all in one big photo haha
the blue light on the water is very sweet, adds a much needed splash of cool tones.
love the star-light effect too, and the dark areas are doing their best to provide contrast.
sweet long exposure shot
cheers

Hello Andrew,
a delightful night picture, as a postcard, with a fantastic reflections on the water, a beautiful sheens, and the nice star-shaped effect in the points of light due to the f/10 value.
You have managed perfectly the exposure time, 20 seconds is a good choice for to work with a tripod. Thanks for your nice words of welcoming me into the site.
Best regards,
Pili

Hi Andrew,
very nice spot and so little known on TE I think so I am glad to see it during the day and at night. I wonder how it would look like at the blue hour? Very difficult to balance the exposure here as areas are not uniformly lit but you did a great job,
I like it,
M
