Photographer's Note

Artist's Palette is an area of exposed clay and mudstone that has been weathered by the heat and hot groundwater of Death Valley to bring out its colourful minerals. The best time to take pictures here is sunset, during the day the desert light is so bright and harsh the colours tend to get washed out.
