Photographer's Note

The real reason I lived in California for a couple of years were not the stunning landscapes or a perfect climate but the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). Their sweatshirts and logo are so well known around the world that some people believe it is just a brand of clothing. UCLA campus has many attractive spots. Royce Hall (in this photo) is probably the most iconic. At the first sight the two towers appear perfectly symmetrical but after a closer look you may discover that they are different. It is of course a reference to the idea that only God is perfect while earthly creations are imperfect by default. The design of the church was inspired by several churches in Italy with the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio in Milan being the most important. UCLA is the closest university campus to Hollywood and that is why you may have seen it in many Hollywood movies. In particular, my colleagues told me that for the movie “Legally Blonde” UCLA campus pretended to be Harvard. To make it look more like East Coast they even brought some fallen leaves to decorate the filming scenes.
