Photographer's Note

Hello TE friends,
This years 124th Tournamnet of Roses Parade took place on a cold wintery Jan. 1,but the sun eventually shone through by 10 a.m. Before the parade begins, a Rose Parade Bandfest is held with three performances given on Dec. 29, 30. I have been going to this parade for the last 15 years and I did not know this until this year.
"Bands are selected based on musicianship, marching ability, uniqueness and entertainment value. In particular, bands are being sought with the ability to perform a field type show while marching forward."
Here is a photo of the Pasadena City College Tournament of Roses Honor Band & Herald Trumpets, California.
Interviews and applications are being taken this month for 2014. Enormous planning and fundraising takes place to prepeare for the magnitude of this parade. There were 23 marching bands this year and one band came from Puebla, Mexico, another from El Salvador, and yet others from Kentucky, South Dakota, and Florida.
This year my personal goal was to take photos of the Rose Queen and the Grand Marshall. I feel I succeeded in my goal.
Please check out my group theme called Pasadena Tournamnet of Roses.
