Little Beauty, a photo from California, West

Photographer's Note

I have searched and searched trying to identify this little beauty, but without success. If any birders know it's name I would love to know.

I like this shot because of the soft backgroud provided by the sandy beach. I cloned out a distracting piece of fence, but the shot is otherwise, pretty much untouched.

Nice little one. Sorry, I can't help you with the name of that bird. I find your bokeh really nicely done. I like the simplicity of that picture. Thank you for sharing!

Excellent DOF and I am amazed by the lack of any noise in the background
About this bird ... well it looks like a common sparrow with red breast to me ... but I would recommend posting this photo on TN where there are many bird lovers who would be in a better position to identify this beauty

This one is absolutely gorgeous!
The absolute sharpness against the even background, the nice position you gave in the composition, everything well thought, bravo Ned!

Fantastic "shallow depth of field" shot. I love the way the image is sharply focused upon the subject, whilst leaving the background completely neutral. Lovely colours too.

Hello, Ned,

Well what a charming little fellow. The blank gray background is perfect to show off that beautiful flush of red. I don't know what the bird is called, though I'm reminded of a rosy finch. I have just located my John James Audobon "Birds of America" guide, so I will see if I can't solve your mystery and get back to you.
