Photographer's Note
These ducks came in about 3 weeks ago - a southern migration from the north, Canada perhaps. Great swimmers and hunters. Unlike the seagulls who drop clams like this and break them open, these ducks swallow them whole. Then dive down again for more, maybe 5 or 6 a day. So fun to watch and capture, with the camera, all these birds in action. David

Hello David, an excellent close up of this duck with its very colourful beak.
Perfect timing as the duck catches the clam. It looks to me as if it would be quite difficult to swallow!
The shallow depth of field has worked a treat.
