Berry Branches in Winter

My Best wishes of the Holiday season to all of you.

This is a somewhat abstract of berry branches in winter under bright light and thick fog.
Although it seems almost black and white this is actually shot in color and the saturation of the RAW file has not been adjusted.

One of the most wonderful things about our move to Minnesota is living in the North Woods. My back gate opens into the forest. The woods flow through our small city. Duluth sits along the shore of Superior and flows up the steep hills and bluffs that hug the shoreline. The terrain itself left many areas unsuitable for buildings and roads. These large tracts of land throughout the city have been left to the forest. This image is from near the shore of a small pond that sits in a few acres of empty forest near my house.

Communicating the forest is one of the things I have found most difficult photographically .. the busy feeling of all the elements as they fill the screen ... the compositional chaos .. make it hard to find the serene quiet and sense of the woods through the view finder ..
