The Black Swan (Cygnus atratus) is a large waterbird which breeds mainly in the southeast and southwest regions of Australia. The species was hunted to extinction in New Zealand, but later reintroduced. Within Australia they are nomadic, with erratic migration patterns dependent upon climatic conditions. Black Swans are large birds with mostly black plumage and red bills. They are monogamous breeders that share breeding responsibilities between the sexes.

A lovely set of contrasts.. The black on white, the normally serene swan on the frothing angry water, the vertical fall and horizontal stream, the tall neck and long body... A great composition, clear sharp and busy.. love it.

This little fella's come a long way to visit you in the USA. The black swan is actually the symbol of where I come from in Sydney. But unfortunately, it's rare that you see them here nowadays/ I love the dynamism of the water and how tranquil the swan is despite all the commotion. This is quite an unusual composition.Swans are always shown sailing across a perfectly still surface in regal fashion.Your shot is creatively out of the ordinary.Like it a lot,Wolf.

What a dramatic shot, the black swan against the waterfall, what at the same time boost DOF. Very fine details and good light managements as the contrasts of black and white are well mastered. Good photo job.
