Photographer's Note

The photo is not that old but for me it is archival as it was taken in June 2003 in my pre-digital times. Some time ago I have bought a negative scanner to digitize my favourite photos from the past but somehow the results are not as good as I hoped. Most of all the negatives are kind of damaged and often discoloured. Often, I end up with a better quality picture when scanning a print then a negative. This picture is a print scan.

I have a sentiment for this photograph because it is one of my first blue hour photos. I loved taking night photos before but this is one of the photos after which I have realized that something like “blue hour” actually exist.

The picture presents one of the Boston landmarks: Custom House Tower, now formally Marriott's Custom House Hotel. It is a skyscraper in McKinley Square, in the Financial District neighborhood of Boston. Construction began in the mid-19th century; the tower was added in the 1910s. Standing at 496 feet (151 m) tall, the tower is currently Boston's 17th-tallest building.
